Journey of Action went to San Antonio to highlight City Year, a non-profit that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world. These diverse young leaders help turn around high-need schools and get students back on track to graduation.

In our webisode, we spent a day in the life of San Antonio’s corp members. We were truly inspired by their dedication and commitment to transforming the schools in which they serve.

Girl from Minnesota, don’t be ignorant. Your City Year experience is not to make you “not see race,” but to be exposed to people from different backgrounds. Trust me, all of those black and brown children see you as white, but they learn to love/like you as a person, which gives them a different perspective of the white people they meet in the future. Acceptance is not about being color blind, but about acknowledging the differences and still being able to get along.
