JoA went to Panajachel, Guatemala to highlight Adam Braun, founder of Pencils of Promise. PoP builds schools in the developing world and trains young leaders to take action at home and abroad. It was amazing to witness PoP’s commitment to empowering communities on the ground.

An inside look into our travels plus some behind the scenes moments with Jorge Camil, our featured change-maker in Mexico. Something we should have included in our US tour is the way we immerse ourselves in the cities we pass through. We stay with locals, eat at local cafes, use public transport or walk, visit local art galleries and markets, and make it a point to stay far away from tourist trap areas. It is about stepping outside of your comfort zone, getting lost, and mixing up the daily routine. This fast-paced video offers our audience a day in the life of Kassidy and Ryan and hopefully shows you a playful side of our webseries.

We kicked off our Latin America last week in Mexico City. Jorge Camil and his co-founders Moís Cherem and Raul Maldonado are bringing technology-based learning to the poorest urban Mexicans. To fill educational gaps, their company, Enova, designs, builds and operates small, cost-effective educational centers called the RIA, Red de Innovación y Aprendizaje (Learning and Education Network). The RIA targets populations in marginalized neighborhoods in a country where only 23% of people had access to computers and/or the internet in 2007. Their e-learning courses are available to children and adults and teach a wide range of subjects and skills to the RIA’s 100,000+ members

Latin America Impact

With funds raised on IndieGoGo we, along with our filmmaker, will travel from Mexico to Argentina. It’s going to be an incredible journey highlighting an array of stories of young Americans who have gone abroad to make their impact.
